How you can help your child:
Make sure that your child is reading regularly and has opportunities to read aloud. Also, regularly practise their spelling rules.
Use web-sites such as Mathletics and Spellodrome (login will be stuck into your childs diary) as these will support your child's learning at home. Sometimes your child's homework will be based around these programs.
Encourage your child to become more independent (by changing their own books, organising their things for school etc.) as this will help them during this transitional phase of school.
Year 2 children will be undergoing testing in the Summer term. It is important that your child does not worry or feel pressured to perform during these assessments. We encourage them to simply 'do their best' as final results are based largely on teacher assessment which is taken throughout the whole year.
