The Local Education Authority is the admission agency and the school follows its timetable, and admits pupils as directed by them.
Parents are advised to attend to notices in libraries and the local press for application dates for nursery children due to start nursery in September 2018.
All our nursery children start in the September following their third birthday. Nursery sessions are either for the morning: 8.50am - 11.20am, or the afternoon: 12.40pm - 3.10pm. All our nursery children are visited at home, prior to starting, so they are able to meet their teacher in a familiar setting with you. The times of the children starting, on their first day, is staggered so the staff are able to give your child individual attention to help them settle quickly.
Main School Admissions
For the Academic Year 2018/19 if your child was born in the period 1 September 2013 to 31 August 2014 inclusive you should apply for a primary school place during the period 1 September 2017 and 15 January 2018. Application packs are available on line from the Bexley Council Website.
Reception children, from families new to the school, are visited at home prior to starting. All reception children are invited to visit their new class on two occasions during the summer term and we welcome parents to stay for the first of these sessions. Children will have a staggered start which starts with them attending for the mornings only, then for mornings and lunch before attending full time. The normal time scale for this would be 7-10 days.
Staff will liaise with preschool providers. An information afternoon is held for all parents to explain what happens when your child starts school and to address any worries you may have.
When more children apply for places than is available at the school, priority is given to children who:
Are looked after children Have a statement of special educational need or EHC plan Have a brother or sister already attending the school
The remaining places are allocated starting with those children who live closest to the school.
The school has 14 places within its resourced provision for children with ASD. These numbers are within the school admission numbers. Admission to the provision is only available to those children who have Hook Lane Primary School ASD Provision named on their statement of SEN or EHC plan, and only when a vacancy is available.
