Visits To Our Nursery

We would love for prospective parents and carers to visit the nursery so that you can feel the warm, friendly atmosphere for yourselves and meet some of our children and staff. Upcoming visit dates will be posted here before Christmas.

Please telephone the school office on 0208 303 3839 to book yourself onto a visit date.

Please visit our Facebook page where you will find a host of photos and videos of Hook Lane in action. We update our social media feeds daily so that we can stay connected with our parents/carers at all times. Have a look through our website to get a feel for our ethos and values.

Don't hesitate to give us a call if you have any questions about our school and its suitability for your child.

About Our Nursery

At Hook Lane we have a nursery class which is fully integrated into our Early Years Foundation Stage, working closely with our reception classes. This smooths the way for the children's transition into reception. Most of our nursery children see their whole Primary School journey through with us.

Nursery Spaces Available

We offer either full-time or part-time places. Our full-time hours are 8:45am - 3:15pm. We also offer part-time places which can be taken as 5 morning sessions (8:45 - 11:45am), or 5 afternoon sessions (12:15 - 3:15pm).

Admissions

Children are admitted to the Hook Lane Nursery in the September following on from their third birthday.

We advise parents/carers to read our Intimate Care and Toileting policy before applying to the Nursery.

Prior to starting, all children must be visited at home, so that they are able to meet their teacher in a familiar setting alongside their parents. Once admission has been confirmed, children will be subject to a ‘staggered start’. This allows Nursery teachers to provide your child with the individual attention they need to help them settle quickly, grow in confidence and feel comfortable in their new stimulating learning environment.

You must apply online via the Bexley Council website.

Our Curriculum

Our nursery offers a variety of experiences to support your child's learning and development. As a school nursery we adopt a diverse curriculum and provide a variety of approaches based on teacher-led learning and child-centred play.

All of our activities guide your child through the key areas of learning - physical development; communication skills; understanding of the world; creative, personal, social and emotional development; maths; and literacy.

We have an experienced qualified teacher and nursery nurse who design the curricular opportunities and guide and supervise the children's learning through play. Children enjoy regular forest school sessions and benefit from early phonics support, Write Dance to support fine and gross motor development and number and shape based activities.
